I’ve been in professional development all week and we’ve been talking about designing quality curriculum and instruction that produces literate children in 2010. I’ve been reflecting on my own literacy development as a child and asking myself many question. So, I have a question for you. What does it mean to be a literate person in 2010? Please feel free to share your answers with me below. What should your child’s school teach children in order to equip them to navigate their world as it pertains to literacy? I know that I’m trying something new today but my hope is that we can have quality dialogue about what constitutes as strong literacy instruction. Let me know what you are thinking.
